Cambridge: an introduction for subs
What to see: Cambridge is a city on the River Cam in East Anglia, home to the prestigious
University of Cambridge. The spectacular colleges include King’s, famed for its choir and
towering Gothic chapel, as well as Trinity, founded by Henry VIII, and St John’s, with its
16th-century Great Gate. University museums have exhibits on archaeology and
anthropology, polar exploration, the history of science and zoology.
What to do: Top activities could include punting your Cambridge Dominatrix down the River
Cam, visiting the famous Botanical Gardens, shopping for vintage bargains and gifts for your
Cambridge Mistress along Mill Road, cycling around the city streets on a hired bicycle, and
visiting Kettle’s Yard Art Gallery. Remember that the colleges are still genuinely places
where students live and study, so if you want to go on a tour of their beautiful courtyards,
by yourself or showing your Cambridge Mistress around, schedule your visit preferably
outside term time and check opening times and costs in advance.
When to go: One of the biggest events during the year is called the May Bumps, a set of
university boat races that take place in June. In July, the Big Weekend offers three days of
free entertainment, starting on a Friday night with a range of music and a spectacular
firework display. The Cambridge Folk Festival is held later in July in the beautiful setting of
Cherry Hinton Hall and attracts around ten thousand people every year.
Where to stay: Cambridge has literally hundreds of places you can stay, to suit every budget,
with accommodation ranging from glamping to Air BnB, hotels of every standard and even

the city has had its ups and downs as far as kink is concerned. For a while, Cambridge Kink
and Cambridge Munch had met up monthly in the Corner House where members could don
fetish clothing and discuss the alternative lifestyle in a private room at the venue. The pub
has since been taken over by new management and no longer holds the monthly meetings.
Members of affiliated group Cambridge Kink also organised monthly events called Oblivion
at Club Tease in Over. That venue had a dungeon and its website boasted of an ability to
“offer almost anything fetish and BDSM” over two floors of play and seduction at Club
Tease. Cambridge Peer Rope Group also set up a 'sex' convention' to go ahead in
Trumpington Village Hall. Unfortunately, newspaper publicity drove these activities
underground.
